Iain Ban CAMPBELL,who was born and died on Croft # 15 in Arnol on the Isle
of Lewis, married Catherine MacLEOD. They had a son Malcolm. Malcom's
daughter Mary CAMPBELL married John MacLEOD and they had at least eight
children. Their daughter Margaret MacLEOD, born 1819 in Arnol on the Isle of
Lewis married Donald SAUNDERS in 1842 and they had four children. Margaret
died about 1852 and Donald soon remarried to Margaret SMITH, possibly in
Scotland. The family emigated to Canada about 1853, first settling in
Garafraxa Township, Wellington County, Ontario and then relocating to Huron
Township, Bruce County. Donald and his second wife had six children born to
them in Ontario.
Donald's eldest son James SAUNDERS married Janet "Jessie" GRAHAM and they
had several children, one of whom was Euphemia. Phemie had a daughter Jean
born out of wedlock in Port Elgin in November of 1915. Jean was adopted by
Daunt and Louisa METCALFE of Greenock Township, Bruce County and they named
their chosen daughter Florence Mae METCALFE.
